Understanding an AI text assessment
A useful result starts with the right passage and ends with a careful human review.
What does an AI text detector check?
ConvertFoto's AI Text Detector helps you take a closer look at a piece of writing. Paste a passage, request an analysis, and receive an estimated AI likelihood. The result offers a starting point for reviewing how the text may have been produced. It does not establish who wrote it, what tools they used, or whether they followed a particular policy.
This version works with pasted text. You can review an excerpt from an article, an essay, a product description, or your own draft. It does not inspect images, upload documents, search the web for matching sources, or identify a specific AI model. Keeping that scope clear helps you ask the right question before running a check.
How to use the AI Text Detector
Choose a passage
Copy a continuous section that contains the writing you want to review. Remove navigation text, unrelated quotations, and private details. Keep enough surrounding context for the passage to make sense on its own.
Check the length
Paste your passage into the labelled box. The counters show words and characters as you type. Our initial website limit is 3,000 characters, with a minimum of 80. The current limits always appear beside the input.
Analyze and review
Select Analyze Text once and wait for the response. Read the explanation alongside the score. Copy Result saves the assessment and its caution to your clipboard so you can keep the interpretation attached.
Nothing is submitted merely because you type or paste. The Clear button removes the passage and the current result from this page. If a request fails, your writing stays in the box so you can correct the issue or return to it without pasting again.
How to interpret your score
The result is labelled Estimated AI likelihood because it expresses an assessment, not a verified fact. A higher value means the analysis gives a stronger AI indication for that particular submission. A lower value means a weaker indication. Neither end of the scale proves the writing's origin, and a middle value should not be forced into a confident yes or no.
A score is not a word count. A result of 70% does not mean that AI wrote 70 out of every 100 words. It does not mark particular sentences as artificial or calculate the share of work completed by a person.
Keep the original passage with any notes you make privately. A score applies to the text submitted at that moment. If you edit the passage or choose another excerpt, you are asking a different question. Avoid combining several results into an invented document score or treating small differences as meaningful evidence.
Choose useful text and recognize limitations
A complete passage gives you more context to review than a slogan, title, or isolated sentence. Avoid padding a short sample with repeated phrases just to reach the minimum. If your document is longer than the website limit, select a coherent section and remember that its assessment cannot establish the origin of everything outside that section.
Check the pasted text before sending it. Copying from a PDF can introduce broken lines, missing spaces, or repeated headers. Correct those copying problems to preserve the intended passage, while keeping a separate original if you need to document exactly what you reviewed.
Human writing can be flagged, and AI-assisted writing can go unflagged. Editing, translation, quotations, and mixed authorship can complicate interpretation. The tool provides no accuracy guarantee for your language, subject, or writing style. A polished paragraph is not evidence of misconduct, just as an awkward paragraph is not proof that a person wrote it without assistance.
Use the assessment as part of a fair review
For your own writing, use the result as a prompt to check clarity, factual support, and whether the text reflects what you intended to say. Improving a draft means making its argument and evidence stronger. Repeatedly rewriting it to chase a preferred detector score does not establish originality or make the content more trustworthy.
When reviewing someone else's work, start with the relevant expectations and available context. Draft history, research notes, cited sources, and a conversation about the writing process may be more informative than a number. Give the writer an opportunity to explain. Do not use this assessment alone to decide grades, hiring outcomes, disciplinary action, or other consequential matters.
Protect private information before submitting
Analysis requires sending your passage to ConvertFoto's server and an external text-analysis service. Remove passwords, personal identifiers, confidential business material, and information you are not authorized to share. If a passage cannot leave your organization or device, do not submit it here. Read the privacy policy before using the tool with material that needs special handling.
The application does not retain submitted text by default, place it in public page URLs, or save it in browser storage. This does not promise that external processing is anonymous or that the external service has no retention. Your passage remains visible in the text box during your session; use Clear when you finish on a shared screen.
When a check cannot be completed
An unavailable service, a connection problem, or a usage limit can prevent analysis. Follow the message shown and wait when requested. An unsuccessful request produces an error, never a replacement score or a human-written verdict. The tool does not automatically retry your submission. Choose another check only when you are ready to send the passage again.
You can also rate your experience below the tool. The displayed average comes from submitted visitor ratings, and an empty state appears before the first rating. Ratings describe the experience of using this page; they are not a measurement of detection accuracy. Use the contact link to report a problem without including confidential text.
