For selectable text PDFs, conversion tries to preserve text, images, and tables. Complex layouts, fonts, columns, and page breaks may change when rebuilt for Word.

Scanned pages become editable text with simplified formatting. Their original table and image layouts are not recreated. Blurry images, handwriting, and unusual fonts can produce recognition mistakes.

Can I convert a scanned PDF?

Yes. Auto mode detects pages that need text recognition. You can also choose Scanned PDF (OCR) to recognize every page. Select the main language used in your document. Scanned pages are converted to editable text with simplified formatting, and can take several minutes.

Which conversion mode should I choose?

Auto works for most documents, including PDFs containing both selectable text and scanned pages. Text PDF uses the existing text and is intended for digitally created PDFs. Scanned PDF (OCR) recognizes the page images and can take longer.

Will the Word document look exactly like my PDF?

Selectable text PDFs retain their layout where possible. Scanned pages use simplified text formatting and do not recreate the original tables or images. Check the reading order, fonts, and page breaks in the downloaded Word file.

Where are my files processed?

Your PDF is uploaded and processed on the ConvertFoto server. Temporary server files expire after one hour. You can also use Delete files now after conversion. Documents already downloaded to your device remain there until you delete them.

Can I upload a password-protected PDF?

Unlock the PDF on your device first, using its password, then upload the unlocked copy. This tool does not remove password protection.

What if conversion fails or takes a long time?

Scanned pages take longer than selectable text. Keep this page open and follow the progress message. If conversion fails, check the displayed file limits, try a smaller PDF, and make sure the file opens correctly on your device. A temporary connection problem can be retried with Check status again.
