A YouTube Short uses the same download form as an ordinary video. Start with the ConvertFoto YouTube to MP4 downloader; no separate Shorts app or browser extension is needed.
Copy the link to one public video
Open the Short on YouTube, select Share, then Copy link. The downloader accepts individual video links in these forms:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_IDhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_IDhttps://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID
Paste the video link itself, without surrounding text. A channel page, search results page, or playlist URL does not identify a supported single video. Private, removed, login-restricted videos and active live streams are unavailable.
Prepare and save the MP4
- Paste your link
Open the downloader in your browser and paste the copied URL into the YouTube link field.
- Choose a quality limit
Select up to 360p, 720p, or 1080p. Choose a lower setting when a smaller file matters more than detail.
- Prepare the video
Select Prepare download and wait for processing to finish. Keep the page open so you can see the result or any error message.
- Save the finished file
Select Save MP4 when it appears, confirm any browser download prompt, and wait for the transfer to finish.
Understand quality, audio, and size
The output is an MP4 video with available audio. A vertical Short stays vertical; the tool does not crop it into a landscape video. It does not offer MP3 audio-only files.
Your quality choice is a maximum, not a promise that every source offers that resolution. ConvertFoto chooses an available compatible MP4 stream at or below the selected limit. It does not upscale a lower-resolution upload or restore missing detail.
Each source must be no longer than 30 minutes, and the prepared file must fit within 250 MB. A lower quality can reduce file size, but it cannot make an over-length video eligible.
If preparation or saving fails
- For an unsupported-link message, copy the individual video's Share link again and remove any extra text.
- If no suitable format is available or the file is too large, retry once at 720p or 360p.
- If the source is restricted or removed, changing quality will not make it accessible. Check whether that video still opens publicly on YouTube.
- If a prepared link has expired, paste the original YouTube link and prepare it again. Temporary server files are deleted after one hour.
After a successful transfer, use our guide to finding videos on iPhone, Android, and computer. Expiry removes the temporary server copy; it does not remove an MP4 already saved on your device.
